Adding Private Notes

When you work with a record, add comments, provide details or share your opinion, there may occur a situation when some information stored with the help of BUGtrack records should remain visible to one group of users, and be concealed from another group. For example, you may need to hide communication within the team or technical details from your clients, while all other BUGtrack users – developers, testers and managers - should have acess to such data.

Adding private details that are available to one group of users but not visible to another group is possible with the help of the Note action.

Note: The functionality of adding and viewing private notes is available only to users with roles for which the Note action has been made available. Users with other roles will not be able to add or view private notes or files attached with such notes.

BUGtrack offers two modes of adding notes to records: single note mode and mass note mode.

Procedure – Single Bug

Step one. Open record details view and click the Note button.

Step two. Enter private note details or/and attach a file. No other field values are available for modifications.

Step three. Click the Save button to complete the operation.

Private notes are available in the record view mode (provided you have a user role for which the Note action is enabled). Note section header header is highlighted yellow.

Procedure – Mass Note

Step one. Select all records for which you want to add private notes and click the Note button.

Step two. Enter private note details or/and attach a file. No other field values are available for modifications.

Step three. Click the Save button to complete the operation.

Note: When a private note is added for multiple records, the user will receive an e-mail notification on every record for which the notification option is enabled. To disable multiple e-mails sending, select the Don’t send notification emails check box at the bottom of the Mass Note form.
